Sound Change

[y]の影響で変化する音(3)

[v]の音で終わる単語に[y]で始まる単語が続くとき、[v]と[y]が合わさって違う音に変わることがあります。そのため、Have youは「ハヴ・ユー」ではなく「ハヴュー」のように聞こえます。

 

また[f]で終わる単語に[y]で始まる単語のときも煮た現象が起こります。

 

例文

Have you been to Disneyland?

Have you heard the news?

How’ve you been?

That’s very kind of you

Where did you leave your glasses?

What's that above your head?

I’ve lived here for 5(five) years.

I’ll give you a call tonight.

Contact me if you are interested.

The plane hasn’t taken off yet.
