Sound Change
母音に挟まれた[t]が変化する場合
meterのtのように，tの前後が母音で、前の母音にアクセントがあるとき、tは，力を抜いて舌先で上あごを弾くように発音されることが多く，lのように聞こえます。
そのため，meterは，「ミーター」ではなく，「ミーラー」のように聞こえます。
この現象は単語間でも起こります。

What’s the matter with you?はWhat’s wrong with you?といった言い方もある。

coldは風邪。文末にthoughをつけることで柔らかい逆接を表現。
had better はかなり強い表現でshouldよりも強い。
shouldはアドバイス的であるのに対し、had betterは脅迫、警告、命令的であるそうです。
A: I have to finish this.
B: Let it go.
A: OK. (Thanks,) See you later.
B: See you later.

Out of order 使用中止（状態）
mind ~ing 〜するのを気にする？の意味ですなわち「〜してくれないか」と尋ねる表現。
注意は答え方。「いいよ、OK」というときは「No」と言う。No I don’t mind ~ing.〜することは気にしないよ→OKだよ、ということ
Rain check 英語耳で時々出てきた表現。「また今度」の意味。大リーグでは雨でゲームが中止になると代替チケットを渡します。
Rainのときに渡すTicketなのでticketがcheckに変わってRain checkという表現が使われるようになったようです。
hold you to it 「あなたをそこに保持した」から「よし約束だぞ」と念押しするような意味合いに。
