解説
第1段落はそれ全体で1文となっている。
When以下で「〜のとき」に、Close your eyes（目を閉じなさい）としてI will soon・・to brighten up（私は明かりをともしにそこにいる）という構成。
You’ve got a friend : have gotはほぼhaveと同じ意味。「（ある時からずっと）もっている」という時間軸を意識する言い方。
正しくはhave gottenだがこれはイギリス英語でアメリカ英語はほぼhave gotが使われる。
All you have to doはひとかたまりに覚えるといい。「あなたがやらなければならないこと」
the sky above you : aboveは「はるか上」というニュアンスで基本的に「接していない」。
それに対しonは「（接した状態で）上に」という意味。the skyは頭に接しないのでonではなくaboveを使う。
Keep your head together : 頭を揃える、すなわち「ばらばらにならない」→「落ち着いて」
knocking at your doorのatはonでもよい。
ain’t : isn’tの変化した形。使う必要はないが意味は知っておいたほうがいい。
desert : dessertは「デザート」でつづりは違うけど発音は全く同じ。文脈で意味を判断する。

英語の歌はマザーグースから取り込んでいるものも多い。
今回扱われた教材You've got a friendは英語耳セミナーでは２回目なんですが、改めて聞いてみると音読練習にとても向いている気がしました。
原曲がそんなに早くないこと、英語独特の強弱がはっきりしていること、音の変化や連結が比較的わかりやすいこと、が理由です。
ネイティブの人の発音を真似て音読し、それが英語耳を開いていくというリズミカルスピーキングにぴったりの題材です(^^)
